This is new with the Loewe Bild V.65 DR+
The Loewe remote control looks good, but with its small lettering it is not very ergonomic.
DR+ means built-in hard disk recorder
Unlike usual, a separate USB hard drive is not required for TV recordings; a 1 terabyte hard drive is already installed in the television. Thanks to double receivers, users can watch another program while recording – very convenient. In general, this is where one of the strong points of the Loewe television comes into play: when recording, it can be based on the start and stop commands of the TV station (in the Loewe recording menu “Automatic time control”), so that any timetable changes on the TV -Program not screw up the recordings. Unfortunately, only public service programs use this digital VPS successor. TV recordings as well as current programs can be called up with the Loewe app on smartphones and tablets. In the test, this worked impressively smoothly with an iPhone 11.

Fire TV instead of custom apps
On the back of the Loewe Bild V, under the Amazon Fire TV stick supplied, there is enough space for the CI module and another HDMI player.

The best picture settings for the Loewe Bild V
When first installed, the Loewe offers the choice between a standard mode and a premium mode. Standard is optimized for low energy consumption and leads to a rather bland image impression, the premium version is a bit colorful and beautified. The most natural picture requires a bit of rework in the menu: Under the menu item Picture Adjustment, the cinema fashion the best starting point. The Aspect ratio 16:9 PC ensures pixel-precise display, in the menu item Further leads to 1 or 0 reduced setting for sharpness to a calmer picture. Under Further reduces the Automatic dimming the image brightness in dark surroundings, however, has a very strong impact – whether you still like the rather dark image is a matter of taste. That also applies to them film smoothing, the medium setting resulted in smooth movement display without noticeable artefacts in the test. The other menu items can remain in the factory settings. However, it is confusing that there are two ways to access the image settings, but menu items are missing depending on the way: Pressing the home button on the remote control, which is a bit small and with low contrast, followed by a click on the gear icon leads to the full menu. On the other hand, if users press the menu button and select the “Image” menu item, the image format, for example, cannot be changed.
Below the screen, the speakers are hidden behind a beautiful fabric panel. The round ring around the standby LED has no function.
Powerful sound and clear language
The fact that Loewe pays special attention to sound is already clear from the clearly visible speaker bar. It convinced in the test with very easy to understand speech reproduction and powerful bass – the “Tagesschau” fanfare is rarely heard so powerfully. With the installed Mimi app, the Loewe Bild V can compensate for age-related hearing impairments to a certain extent. Users enter their year of birth, which the television uses to dynamically – i.e. volume-dependent – emphasize individual spectral ranges. In contrast to simple tone controls or equalizers, this does not lead to exaggerated highs or distorted tones. This means that younger or better-hearing family members can live with the sound adjustment. Users with greater hearing impairments increase this even more with the Mimi smartphone app: This makes it possible to carry out an individual hearing test, and an individual sound correction is then sent to the television via a user account. However, for well-hearing family members, it seems a bit cool and artificial. Of course, different profiles can be quickly switched in the sound settings.
Test conclusion Loewe Bild V and its variants
The material appeal is poetry, the design typically Loewe elegant. Technically, the Loewe Bild V offers a lot, although it is based on the previous platform. The narrow speaker under the screen sounds massive, its Mimi technology counteracts age-related hearing loss in users. The picture quality is excellent, so the Loewe Bild V can compete with the best OLED televisions. In addition to the picture V.65 DR+ tested with a 164 centimeter screen (65 inches), Loewe also offers the technically identical picture V.55 DR+ with a screen diagonal of 140 centimeters (55 inches). A floor stand is available as an accessory, even with a motor for screen adjustment via remote control. Two new variants will be added in April 2022: The Bild V.55 does not have a built-in hard drive (therefore no DR+ in the name), but TV programs can be recorded on external USB hard drives if desired. In addition, in the new Easy TV mode, it does without any network or Bluetooth connections. Simple TV usability is then the focus. Nevertheless, a Fire TV Max is included in the scope of delivery. The second new version, Bild V.55 HD+, comes with an HD+ module and smart card instead. This is mandatory for the satellite reception of private broadcasters in HD and otherwise costs 79 euros extra, regardless of the TV manufacturer. The prices for the slimmed-down versions are the same, they cost 2,899 euros each. This makes them an attractive 600 euros cheaper than the original model.
