PC streaming cameras, or webcams, are generally equipped with small sensors with medium optics.

Streamers therefore often opt for capture cards with connected cameras to obtain better image quality.

It is in this context that Logitech presents the Mevo Corethe highest quality streaming camera yet, capable of recording 4K video for six hours straight on a single battery charge.

An 8.3 megapixel Four Thirds sensor

The Mevo Core relies on an 8.3 megapixel Four Thirds sensor capable of recording 4K videos at 30 frames per secondwith a data rate of up to 40 Mbit/s.

1080p videos can be streamed directly to the companion Mevo smartphone and tablet app via Wi-Fi 6E, but to use 4K the camera must be connected via HDMI or USB-C.

If you connect the Mevo Core to a computer via USB-C, you can easily use it as a webcam and power it directly via USB cable. Logitech promises six hours of wireless battery life, both when recording 4K video to a microSD card and when streaming 1080p video.

Wide lens compatibility

The camera supports hundreds of goals Micro Four Thirds (micro 4/3, m4/3, μ4/3, MFT), notably those of Panasonic and Olympus. The sound is recorded either via the three integrated microphones, or via an external microphone connected in 3.5 mm TRS, maximum in 16 bits at 48 kHz.

The camera, which weighs 700 grams, has a tripod thread on each side.

Logitech largely does without buttons and completely without a screen, so the Mevo Core inevitably has to be controlled via the companion app or desktop app.

1000 dollars

The Logitech Mevo Core 4K streaming camera is launching for the first time in the United States, where the camera will be available for $999. It is not yet known if or when the camera will launch in Europe.
