Logitech Lift test: a compact and comfortable ergonomic mouse

Logitech has an extensive range of ergonomic mice, with no less than four models currently available. One of them is the MX Vertical, at 120 euros, which I tested a few years ago. But I found it slightly too big for my hands. So it took a while, but Logitech finally came up with a similarly styled mouse for people with smaller hands. The vertical and ergonomic Lift mouse, which costs 80 euros, takes the form of the MX Vertical and reproduces most of its functions.

The Logitech Lift is available in black (Graphite), off-white (Pale Grey), or pink (Rose). Recycled plastic was used for 70% of the plastic parts of the black mouse, and 54% of the pink and white versions.

The mouse connects to a computer via Bluetooth LE or an included Logi Bolt USB-A dongle, and is powered by a single AA battery that Logitech says can last up to two years.

The idea behind the vertical design is that you wrap your hand around the raised part of the mouse, what Logitech calls a “natural handshake” position, with your thumb resting on two buttons on the side that curves up. inside, and fingers accessing the scroll wheel and its associated buttons – two large and one small – on the outward curved side. With an angle of 57 degrees, the pressure on the wrist is less than with a standard mouse, and the asymmetrical shape is designed so that the mouse perfectly matches the curve of the palm.

It works for me anyway, and I found the device very comfortable. The mouse can be paired with up to three devices, and all it takes is a quick press of a button under the device to switch between them. Logitech’s Flow technology also lets you move files between supported devices with just drag-and-drop. Flow is OS independent, allowing you to switch and move files between an iPad and a Windows desktop computer, for example.

Some aspects of Flow can be configured in the Logitech Options software, which also allows button functions to be customized. The Options software also allows you to adjust the mouse resolution to control cursor speed, in 100 dpi increments over the 400-4000 dpi range.

The shape of the Logitech Lift limits its portability. It measures 70 mm wide, 108 mm deep and 71 mm high, and weighs 125 g. Standard mice have a much more stubby shape and slip more easily into the pocket of a bag, for example. Logitech doesn’t provide a pouch, so if this mouse needs to travel, you’ll need to think about protecting it.

Logitech also markets a Lift for Business version of this product, which allows IT managers to update firmware remotely, works with Options+ software, does not feature the pink (Rose) variant, and offers a two-year warranty.
