Logitech Signature MK650 Keyboard / Mouse Combo Review: An Affordable Duo

Logitech has recently focused on the needs of business users with its line of mice and keyboards. Earlier this year, the Swiss brand launched new Business editions of its MX mice and keyboards, which use Bolt USB wireless adapters, exclusive to Logitech, to offer enhanced security. However, high-end MX products are quite expensive, with a keyboard-mouse combo costing between $200 and $250.

So Logitech has launched the more affordable Signature MK650 Combo For Business, which includes a keyboard and mouse for just $80. The MK650 Combo is available in black or white and is currently sold through Logitech’s professional resellers.

At this price, the MK650 Combo is also a good option for individual users who may now be working from home, although this lower price does come with some trade-offs. The lightweight plastic K650 keyboard lacks the sleek design and sturdy construction of MX keyboards, although it does have a wrist rest that the MX keyboard lacks. The keys travel well too, which should be comfortable enough for long hours of work. The M650 mouse seems more solidly built – I found the test unit rather small, but a larger variant is available, as well as a left-handed version.

It’s also a little disappointing that neither device comes with a rechargeable battery. Standard AA batteries are included, however, with two batteries providing 36 months of use on the keyboard, while a single battery should keep the mouse running for 24 months.

The full keyboard includes a numeric keypad and the standard top row of function keys, while the mouse has four buttons and a scroll wheel. It is also possible to switch the mouse wheel from horizontal scrolling to vertical scrolling by pressing one of the side buttons. Logitech’s Options+ app also lets you customize mouse buttons and function keys to create profiles that work with the apps you use most often.

Luckily, the recently updated app is now much more Mac-friendly than it was before. However, the MK650 Combo does not support the Flow option which allows more expensive MX mice and keyboards to be paired with multiple computers and mobile devices, and transfer files between them (much like the universal command from Apple, but introduced years earlier).

Logitech Zone Vibe 125 Headset

If you’re looking for additional office accessories, Logitech has also announced a new headset for office work, called the Zone Vibe 125. Priced at €130, the Vibe is actually based on one of the headsets. gaming earpads from Logitech, which are designed to be comfortable during long, intense gaming sessions. The large ear cups are padded and weigh only 185g.

So they should be comfortable enough to wear all day at work. The boom microphone has noise-canceling features to enable clear voice calls even in a busy office, and you can mute the mic by simply flipping it up, away from your face. The rechargeable battery lasts for around 18 hours when talking through the mic, or 20 hours if you just want to relax and listen to music at the end of the day.
