A 23-year-old young man was indicted for having defenestrated his two little girls aged 2 and 4 years old. If one of the little girls succumbed to her injuries, the oldest is still between life and death.
It was at Chambon-Feugerolles (Loire) that this macabre scene took place. On the morning of Friday September 16, two little girls aged 2 and 4 respectively fell from the 4th floor of their apartment in rue Michelet. It was witnesses who called the firefighters, who arrived around 10 a.m. to try to save the two children.
Unfortunately, the smaller one did not survive the fall. The girl died a few hours later at the CHU de Saint-Étienne. His older sister, admitted to the same hospital, is still between life and death.
According to testimony collected by theAFPthe little girl would have been transferred to another hospital: “The doctors are trying to save his four-year-old sister who has been admitted in a very serious condition to a hospital in Lyon”said the public prosecutor of Saint-Etienne David Charmatz, present on the spot the day of the tragedy.
The first elements of the investigation reveal an accidental fall
When they fall, the two little girls were alone with their father. First suspected of having himself defenestrated his two children, the 23-year-old young man was taken into custody: “Even if the person concerned does not provide any testimony on the course of the events which he says he did not attend, explaining that he fell asleep and had a black hole”David Charmatz told the newspaper Progress.
At first, the father of the family was placed in police custody at the Firminy police station (Loire), for “murder and attempted murder of minors under the age of 15”: “Even if the interested party does not bring any testimony on the sequence of events which he says he did not attend, explaining that he fell asleep and had a black hole“continued the public prosecutor of Saint-Étienne.
While in custody, the young man claimed not to have pushed his two childrenand the first elements of the investigation support this statement: “Findings on the spot and the neighborhood survey lead, as it stands, to favor the trail of an accidental fall of the two girls, who may have wanted to grab their cat, climbed on the window sill and who also fell”revealed the prosecutor.
The family followed by the social services which had authorized the custody of the father
The deceased youngest was enrolled in the kindergarten of Chambon-Feugerolles (Loire), while her older sister is educated in a nursery school located in the same town. In 2021, the two little girls and their mother had left the family home, because the latter wanted to flee domestic violence. Since the fall, the mother of the family is in the hospital, at the bedside of her daughter who is still between life and death.
For several weeks, the family had been followed by the social services who had decided to let the two little girls live with their father, from December. This decision followed a request from the young man who wanted to recover the girls.
