TThree people died on Saturday morning on the A47 motorway in the Loire after a collision caused by a motorist who was traveling in the opposite direction, Agence France Presse learned from concordance sources.
“For a currently undetermined reason, which the investigation will endeavor to establish, a Fiat 500 driven by a 66-year-old resident of Cher was traveling in the opposite direction,” said a CRS in charge of the motorway axis on which place the accident.
The motorist’s car collided around 4:20 a.m. with a Citroën C3 “on board which were two young men from Saint-Chamond (Loire), aged 21 for the passenger and barely 18 years for the driver, ”said the public prosecutor of Saint-Étienne, David Charmatz.
The 66-year-old driver and the 21-year-old young man died instantly. Seriously injured, the youngest of the three victims died on Saturday afternoon at the CHU de Saint-Étienne.
Following this accident, the motorway was closed to traffic for nearly three hours, until 7:30 a.m., at Lorette, in the Lyon-Saint-Étienne direction.
