Loire-Atlantique: alerted by screams, a couple wakes up in the middle of the night and makes a nightmarish discovery on their ceiling

A family from Loire-Atlantique is invaded by housemates bats. They made this nightmarish discovery a year ago and since then, impossible to get rid of it…

A family from Meilleraye-de-Bretagne, in Loire-Atlantique, is forced to living with bat housemates. More than 200 bats have taken up residence with Émilie Ravard, her husband and their four children. Exasperated by these little flying beaststhe 40-year-old mother told her troubles to news.fr. “You wouldn’t spend a night in my room”she confided to the news site.

Émilie Ravard: “It made little cries, scratches”

Émilie Ravard no longer knows how to deal with this colony of bats that rots his life. It’s been a year since she became aware of the presence of these placental mammals. “I had heard noises coming from the ceiling of my room, in May, June, in the evening, when going to bed. I thought that an animal was above my head. small cries, scratches. I had the impression that she was moving in the wall”she told actu.fr.

At that time, bats lived in the attic through an opening in the gable of the house. A specialist then sprayed eucalyptus repellent in the attic. That fixed the problem…temporarily.. This year, they came back in number: 198 bats in 35 minutes were counted by Émilie Ravard and her husband. “At the beginning of May, it scratched much more than last year on the ceiling and in the walls”reported the mother completely annoyed. “We hear them scratching at the top of the walls of each room. They spread through the walls of the whole house from the floor up to the girls’ rooms“.

“I pay my rent every month, I don’t have to go through that. A year is fine, but that’s too much”denounced Émilie Ravard who says she is left unprepared by her social landlord. But the organization in question recalls that“the 33 species of bats have been protected by law since 1981”. It is therefore forbidden to hunt bats, protected by article L.411-1 of the Environmental Code. The lessor has nevertheless undertaken to find temporary accommodation for this family at the end of my rope.
