Loire/ Rhône TER Saint-Étienne/Lyon: back to normal at the end of the month

Since June 2, users of the SNCF Saint-Étienne/Lyon line have noticed a reduction in trains and an increase in travel time between the two cities. That day, a truck from a recycling company traveling on boulevard de Fonsala in Saint-Chamond fell about 12 meters to end up on the railway.

In its fall, the 15-ton truck ripped off the catenaries and the rails were twisted. Miraculously the driver was only slightly injured. Once the truck was removed from the tracks, SNCF Réseau agents were hard at work restoring the link.

Still no TGV

Last week the rails were replaced and upgraded. Currently the poles of the catenaries, which had been bent, are changed as well as the wires of the catenaries. This last step is an essential phase of the project. Once this part of the work is complete, SNCF Réseau expects train traffic to return to normal at the end of June.

Until then, SNCF Mobilités indicates that three TER can circulate per hour. However, there is no TGV between Saint-Étienne and Paris and vice versa.
