Loiret: a young policewoman seriously injured during a check


A young peacekeeper was seriously injured on Saturday evening in Amilly, in the Loiret, after being hit by a two-wheeled driver, actively sought after, the Montargis prosecutor’s office said on Sunday. Saturday, around 11 p.m., in the agglomeration of Montargis, “police officials wanted to proceed to the control of the driver of a scooter who was without a helmet”, declared the public prosecutor of Montargis, Loïc Abrial, in a communicated.

“The driver of the two-wheeler refused to submit to the checks and continued on his way. According to the first elements of the investigation, he would have carried out a maneuver with his scooter causing him to return in the direction of the police. On this occasion, he would have hit a police officer, a trainee peacekeeper”, continues the prosecutor.

No vital prognosis involved, but “serious” injuries

In her twenties, she had recently taken up her post at the Montargis police station. Victim of several fractures to the legs and face, she was immediately taken care of by the emergency services and hospitalized. “His vital prognosis is not engaged but his injuries are considered serious”, specifies the prosecutor.

The Loiret police said on their Twitter account that the young policewoman “was deliberately hit” by the driver. “Unconscious, she presented multiple fractures and is operated”, according to the police. The driver of the scooter, who fled after the fact, is actively wanted.

A flagrant investigation for attempted murder of a person holding public authority has been opened and entrusted to the Montargis police station, according to the prosecution.
