Loiret Féminicide in Pithiviers: the man acted in a state of massive alcoholism after the announcement of a breakup

The 60-year-old man, who killed his 32-year-old companion with a firearm on Wednesday in Pithiviers (Loiret), told investigators while in police custody that he had acted in a state of massive alcohol “after his companion told him that they wanted to end their relationship, ”said the prosecutor of the Republic of Orleans Emmanuelle Bochenek-Puren.

“He was temporarily imprisoned and asked for time to organize his defense,” said the prosecutor.

Many home weapons

The sexagenarian had been arrested after having “around 5 a.m. contacted the 17th, reporting that he had killed his companion”.

Entrenched in his own home, the man did not surrender immediately. Helped by negotiators from Cher and Indre-et-Loire, the gendarmes of the specialized protection platoon (PSPG) of Dampierre-en-Burly had arrested the suspect “without incident” around 12:30 p.m.

The victim was then found dead at the suspect’s home.

“The autopsy of the victim’s body establishes that the death was caused by three firearm shots, two being lethal on their own”, specified the prosecutor, specifying that “no other lesion of violence associated n was observed”.

According to the prosecutor, “many weapons and ammunition were found” during a search of his home, “the latter practicing sports shooting”.

Sentenced for acts of domestic violence and acquitted on appeal

This man had been sentenced in correctional in Orleans in July 2018 for “acts of voluntary violence without incapacity by spouse or partner to the detriment of another woman with whom he was in a relationship at the time”. He had been acquitted on appeal in January 2021, specifies the prosecutor.

According to the latest report from the Ministry of the Interior, 102 women were killed by the blows of their spouse or ex-spouse in 2020. The feminist collective against sexist and sexual violence #NousToutes counted 113 feminicides in 2021.
