Loiret: the retirement home was not one, the authorities make a frightening discovery there

Last October, health authorities discovered a fake retirement home in Dordives, Loiret. Several elderly people were housed there in barely comprehensible conditions.

A discovery that sends shivers down your spine. According to information from TF1info and France info, a clandestine retirement home was uncovered in October 2022 in Dordives, Loiret. Alerted by a report to the Regional Health Agency (ARS) of Centre-Val de Loire, the authorities went to the site and found several elderly people visibly very mistreated. Some were hypothermic, others were undernourished. Still others lay helpless in their own excrement. Cords, which would have been used to tie up the residents, were also seized by the police.

Respondent, the owner of roommate granny strongly denies all the charges against him. However, this is not the first time that his establishment has been the subject of a report. In October 2018, the mayor of Dordives, Jean Berthaud, expressed his concern to the ARS after visiting residents following flooding. It was then found that the tenants, who paid up to €1,300 per month for their room, lived there in deplorable conditions. “In the evening, she locked the residents in because they were alone“, explains Nelly Kaddari, social worker at the Montargis hospital center, to TF1, stressing that the elderly were “welcomed in caravans or in the basement of his house“.

She found her residents on Airbnb

Following this report, the services of the prefecture had prohibited the reception of elderly people in the establishment. But in 2022, the mayor of Dordives noticed a suspicious apartment offer on the Airbnb site. Suspecting the owner of roommate granny to have resumed his activities, he once again contacted the ARS, which gave rise to the appalling discovery of October 2022.

An investigation for concealed work, concealment of activity, abuse of weakness, of trust, neglect, illegal exercise of the professions of nurse or doctor and forgery and use of forgery was entrusted to the Montargis research brigade. The owner of the wild EHPAD continues to contest the charges against her.
