LoL: A new record for the GOAT Faker at the Worlds

Younger people may not realize it, but they currently have the honor of seeing Faker evolve to the highest level. The Korean is no longer very young (26 years old) and his retirement is approaching each year, especially with his country’s compulsory military service. The midlaner is a living legend and League of Legends fans would do well not to miss a beat of his appearances.

The triple world champion who is aiming for a 4th title this year has also broken a new record, again. He became the player with the most kills at Worlds in history.

The 350 kill bar by knocking down Fnatic

T1 surprisingly lost to fnatic during the first week of the Main Event. During the encounter, Humanoind had been excellent while Faker had been totally silenced. But for the return match, the Koreans took their revenge. The T1 midlaner had a difficult start to the game, before recovering well with his Sylas to end the game with 6 kills. He thus exceeds the symbolic bar of 350 kills at the Worlds. It’s simply exceptional and no one is able to compete with such statistics… For many, participating once in the World Cup is already a success in itself.

While T1 could go far in the tournament, the 400 kill mark could be exceeded as early as this year.

350 kills, how many per Worlds?

Note that the perforator is all the more remarkable, as he has never disputed the Play-In at the Worlds. He therefore did not cross his path with teams deemed less strong who generally serve as a doormat. When we sift through his career, we find:

  • 80 kills in Season 3 Worlds (win)
  • 55 kills in Season 5 Worlds (win)
  • 82 kills in Season 6 Worlds (win)
  • 45 kills at Worlds in Season 7 (Final)
  • 51 kills at Season 9 Worlds (semi-final)
  • 26 kills at Season 11 Worlds (semi-final)

The current edition is in progress and the Korean already accumulates 14 additional kills (in 4 games). How far can he go? Knowing that he has at least two group games left (C9 and EDG) and at least one Bo5 to play.

MGG traveled there to cover League of Legends Worlds 2022. During our stay, we had the opportunity to interview Odoamne (Rogue). The weakside king is flawless on the court so far, but he’s just as impressive on camera.
