LoL: A visual update for Sona with patch 12.2

With patch 12.2 rolling out soon to League of Legends, aside from champion and item tweaks, Riot Games has decided to perform a visual (BFX) update to one of its oldest champions, the well-known named Harp Virtuoso, Sona.
Riot Games continues its work on its former champions League of Legends at this beginning. This time it’s the turn of sona to have the portrait reduced for this year 2022. The Virtuoso of the harp is no longer very young, and some of her skins and animations have taken quite a bit of an old look. The studio therefore decided to give her some love and thoroughly reviewed the different visual aspects of the champion.
Skins update
Sona’s basic splashart will be completely revised and corrected. As a result, the others – or at least the oldest – will take it up to get up to date. Here are the planned changes for each appearance:
- Basic Splashart: Complete Redesign
- Muse: Changed minor details based on base one
- Pentakill: New Base
- Nocturne: Recolored according to the base one
- Guqin: Changed minor details based on base one
- Arcade: Complete overhaul
- DJ Sona: Complete overhaul (added a special passive celebration for each skin)
- Tender heart: Changed minor details based on the base one
- Odyssey: Minor Changes
- PsyOps: No change
- Pentakill 3: Minor Changes
This update should arrive with patch 12.2 which is scheduled for this Thursday. Our Harp Virtuoso is therefore going to start the year with a well-deserved makeover.
As a reminder, there are several levels of reworks:
- Gameplay update: aims to change the gameplay of the champion and only his gameplay
- Visual update (VFX): aims to modify the appearance of a champion, change their splash-arts because they are too old / outdated or effects on spells
- Visual and Gameplay Update (VGU): this is the highest level of rework, it aims to change everything about the champion to make it almost new
The second patch of League of Legends Season 13, Patch 12.2, has been announced for Wednesday night through Thursday! It will therefore be live on Thursday, January 20.
