LoL: Champions prices could be lowered

Every year, Riot Games offers its players new characters for its MOBA League of Legends. These can be purchased in two different ways: via Riot Points, the paid currency of the game, or thanks to Blue Essences, the free currency. This can be obtained by leveling up, by disenchanting champion fragments or by opening champion capsules.

When a new character arrives on Summoner’s Rift, they cost 7,200 Blue Essence during the first week, then its price increases to 6,300 species. If you’ve been playing LoL for a while, you must have noticed that all the Champions did not cost the same priceand for good reason, the older they get, the less expensive they are. Different levels exist: 6,300 as said before, then 4,800, 3,150, 1,350 and finally 450. The oldest characters are therefore present in the shop at the price of 450 Blue Essence, as is the case with Kayle, Garen or even Annie.

Be aware that there is a price reduction program put in place by Riot Games which states: ” Each time a new champion is released, the oldest champion costing 6300 BE/975 RP will increase to 4800 BE/880 RP. In addition, every 3 new champion releases, an additional champion whose price is 4,800 BE will be reduced to the next level, depending on their seniority and difficulty. »

It is therefore necessary to understand that the prices evolve according to the releases of new characters. However, this system tends to become obsolete since the lowest cost Champions are the ones presented to newbies when they create an account. We could therefore conclude that the Champions most accessible to novices should all have a low price so that they can acquire them. Unfortunately this is not the case, since Champions like Sona or Yuumi are not available at the price of 450 Blue Essence, but rather 1,350 for the first and 6,300 for the second, while they are relatively simple to player.

This is an issue that The Truexy, one of Riot Games’ game designers answered on Reddit: ” This is something we agree with and I believe our pricing model is outdated. August (a lead champion designer) and I are working on updating EB pricing for many champions to better meet modern standards and fix some of these issues. If Yuumi is supposed to be an easy access champion, she should probably be available early. »

Although The Truexy did not provide further details, It looks like the League of Legends devs are currently considering a new Champions pricing system.. We’ll probably have to wait a little longer before we know more, but the prices for the characters should change in the coming months.
