LoL: Discover the clip and the song of Worlds 2022: Star Walkin’ by Lil Nas X

The League of Legends community often argues over the actual start date of the League of Legends World Championship. For some, the Play-In is not worthy of being considered part of the world championship. Others are of the opinion that even the group stage does not deserve attention. Still others believe that the championship begins with the revelation of the official anthem. In this case, we could say that the Worlds has just started with the official song of the competition: Star Walkin’, performed by Lil Nas X.

A song below the others?

Last year, the community accused Riot Games of only offering vulgar copy-paste for each Worlds anthem. Certainly the music is not the same, nor the lyrics, but it is obvious that the rhythm, the pattern of the music follow the same path from year to year. A criticism that probably pushed the studio to change tack for this edition by teaming up with one of the most popular artists of the moment.

While retaining the catchy chorus we heard in the previews and the live version performed by the singer, Star Walkin’ features some changes from the version we heard at one of the artist’s concerts. .

As for the video, it will certainly not go down in history. It would be dishonest to say it’s not great maid, but we’re used to Riot Games going the extra mile when it comes to adding references or winks during sequences. This time, the animators seem to have been much less ambitious in this regard.

Around here, we remain a little disappointed. Despite a rather punchy chorus, the whole thing clearly lacks the dynamism that can ignite the crowds during the opening ceremony of the biggest competition of the year awaited by all fans.

Reprogramming champions and their skills to create fun videos has become one of a Riot Games employee’s favorite pastimes. Something his colleagues wanted to honor in one of the next skins coming to League of Legends.
