LoL: Faker and T1 end the first leg of the LCK without defeat

It was THE confrontation of the week in LCK, this kind of meeting which thrills the international community of League of Legends as the stakes are high – and T1 got out of it, not without difficulties. Facing the super team assembled by Gen.G, Faker and his team managed to maintain their first place in the Korean league standings, thus preserving their immaculate score.

However, it is clear that chance – or rather, in this case, the Covid – does things well. Indeed, the yellow and black of Gen.G had to play without three two of their holders. Hit by the coronavirus, Choi “Doran” Hyeon-joon (top plane), Han “Peanut” Wang-ho (jungle) and Sound “Lehends” Si-woo (support) had to give up this confrontation at the top. Even Coach Go “Score” Dong-bin had to comply with a mandatory 10-day quarantine, starting Feb. 9.

In an emergency, the Gen.Gs thus appealed to Ko “YoungJae” Yeong-jae (jungle), Lim “Quid” Hyeon-seung (topplane) and Park “Lospa” Joon-hyeong (support) to replace their three absent players. Highlight of this distressing spectacle, Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon finally took the place of his missing top lane, leaving Quid to take over the midlane…

A disappointing duel at the top

Let it be said: this is frankly not the match we expected. In the absence of three of their incumbents, Gen.G were very far from reaching the level of play that we usually knew them. However, the first confrontation of the day lasted almost 50 minutes, resulting in an unexpected showdown between the two teams. Faced with a theoretically weaker five, the T1s had great difficulty on the one hand to amass a real advantage, and on the other to close the match.

That said, during the second game and after this first defeat, the Gen.G were unfortunately only a shadow of themselves and they were unable to snatch the draw or taint the score of T1 of a loss.

Faker and his team remain undefeated after four weeks of competition – whether they will manage to win the 10 remains to be seen. Answer on February 18 against kt Rolster, then the 20 against NS RedForce.

The community tends to think that professional gamers retire at a very young age. However, after 10 years of League of Legends, the GOAT of the Rift considers that things have changed a lot…
