The European LoL G2 Esports team had a lot to do to make an impression on the first day of MSI. Mission accomplished for Caps who silenced a slightly overconfident American player.
One of the biggest international events has just started on League of Legends: the MSI. Each region has sent its best team to represent it, and the confrontations which will be spread over three weeks are already shaping up to be exciting.
On the European side, it is the prestigious G2 Esports team which has the heavy task of wearing the colors of the old continent. After winning the competition in 2019 and performing well internationally in recent years, the samurai did not travel to Korea to make up the numbers.
Caps and his friends have all the cards in hand to go far in the competition. But before rubbing shoulders with the T1 and RNG behemoths, it is essential to go through a group phase which should only be a formality.
Indeed, G2 Esports is in a group of only 3 teams, of which only one will be eliminated at the end of this first phase.
G2 vs ORDER – A disturbing first impression
For their first meeting, the samurais opposed the representatives of Oceania: Order. G2 fans and experts alike could expect a one-way match, with a significant level difference between the Europeans and their first opponents.
If G2 did indeed overcome ORDER without great difficulty, it must be admitted that the European champions were not as dominant as expected. Big individual errors and a routed Jankos made us doubt at several times, giving rise to some concern when at the level of G2.
G2 vs Evil Geniuses – jojopyun and the backlash
Just minutes after their first match, Caps and his mates returned to the stage for an exciting encounter. Indeed, the EU vs NA rivalry was palpable for this G2 vs EG… but that’s not all!
Indeed, the mid laner of the American formation has not hesitated to increase the pressure in recent weeks. During an interview following his team’s victory, jojopyun proudly declared:
I saw the MSI bracket. We’re against Europe and I think we’re going to give up on Europe, but we’ll see. I think we are much better than them.
On April 29, the 18-year-old Canadian prodigy launched a new spade on Twitter:

Shortly before the meeting, jojopyun gave the cover one last time, announcing that he was “time to sh*t on G2”.
Unfortunately for the Evil Geniuses mid laner, his prophecy didn’t quite come true. Indeed, the Americans were crushed in barely 30 minutes by authoritarian G2s at the controls of a surprising composition.
We note in particular the imperial Anivia of the Danish Caps who dominated the central lane with the help of a Jankos who hurried to make people forget his questionable performance against ORDER.
Obviously, the founder of G2 Esports Carlos did not miss this golden opportunity to humiliate his North American opponents on social networks. A small dance step is worth more than words, right?

After two clear victories for G2 Esports, the MSI adventure resumes on Tuesday 11 but at 10 a.m. for Europeans. Once again, Evil Geniuses will be on the menu… and jojopyun will have a lot to do to catch up with his badly embarked prognosis.
