LoL: Hands Viego challengers offer ideas for the nerf

Since its release, Viego has caused many problems for Riot Games. After fixing most of the bugs it caused, Riot Games has nerfed the Ruined King, especially in terms of its tank build. After a few months, the champion finally seemed balanced. His tank build was relatively bad, though still playable, while his assassin build was more successful, though less popular. Several times the development team intervened to make it clear: Viego is an assassin, so it was this build that had to be the most effective, and there was no question for them of buffing the tank build, even if this last was more popular. However, the latest patches have changed the game, bringing Viego tank back to the fore. For 12.12, Riot Games thought of removing one of its mechanics: the possibility of charging your W while being invisible in its mist.

Why do these players think this nerf is bad?

Normally, Viego is not invisible in his mist during W charge time. However, it is possible to do so, by using his E a fraction of a second after starting the charge, which again makes Viego invisible. This mechanic has always been present on the champion, and has never been considered a bug, at least not publicly. According Kaizer Morde, whynot and WickJKRthree challenger players accumulating more than 4 million mastery points between them, this change would ultimately be more harmful than beneficial. This mechanic is very interesting on the champion, because it can allow him to correctly initiate a fight, or even outplay certain opponents in given situations. Removing it would reduce Viego’s skillcap (even if it’s not difficult to achieve, you also need to be able to determine the optimal moment to use it), and would not necessarily solve the balancing problems.

According to them, if the build tank has remained so popular over time, it is because of the pros who use it a lot in competition. Players then recall that Competitive is a totally different meta to SoloQ, as the team jungler knows they can rely on their teammates to kill an opponent, and thus gain the ability to take possession of an opponent’s body. dead enemy. Viego therefore does not need to be a major source of damage, but to temporize so that his carries allow him to use his passive by killing an enemy. This build should therefore be much less effective in soloQ, where coordination with allies is worse. In the pros, Viego replaced Jarvan and Xin as very effective junglers in the first 15 minutes, as his passive is much better later in the game than the two Demacians, who are much weaker in the late game. They also specify that although Viego is very present among the pros at the moment, its winrate at MSI was only 33%, and is still below 50% since the resumption of the regional championships.

The real problem, and the proposed solutions

Unlike Sylas, Viego doesn’t just copy an ability. It also takes items and stats from opponents. Which means that he doesn’t need to have any damage, because anyway he will temporarily steal the stats of the carries and will therefore be a real threat, even if he hasn’t done any damage items. For these three players, the real problem concerns this capacity. They offer several options:

  1. The first would be to simply remove the healing provided by the passive. So even with a tank build, Viego would remain vulnerable because he would no longer have the possibility of regaining HP during a teamfight. Although mentioned, this solution does not seem to them to be the best.
  2. The one they prefer would be to reproduce Sylas’ flight mechanics on Viego. Instead of benefiting from opponents’ items, the damage and/or resistance gained by Viego would depend on some of his personal stats, such as bonus AD, attack speed, critical hit rating, even lethality. Thus only players who take risks could exploit the full potential of the champion. The problem is there for them, because today the low risk build has almost the same impact as the high risk build.

According to them, this change would really reduce the power of Viego tank, without penalizing its assassin build, nor reducing its skillcap by removing certain mechanics.

lfl-lol

Today is game day in the LFL. On the program, two well-known French League of Legends teams meet: Solary and Karmine Corp. But if the poster unleashed passions, it gradually fell into line… To the point of being a match like the others?
