LoL MSI 2022: G2 qualified without forcing and without falling!

The LEC Spring Split 2022 champion team played their last group matches this morning. G2 Esports brilliantly managed to secure their ticket to the next phase of the Mid Season Invitational. Zoom on their first week of competition.

A perfect start

Following the war in Ukraine, the participation of the Russian team was canceled following a decision by Riot Games. G2 Esports therefore found itself in a particular group, with two other teams instead of three: Evil Geniuses the representatives of the LCS, and Order the winners of the Oceania region. G2 faced their two rivals on the first day of the competition. Against ORDER, Caps’ Zoé makes an impression by inflicting 40% of the team’s damage, allowing the Europeans to finish the game in less than 30 minutes. It is then the turn of the Americans to be defeated by the Anivia of the European midlaner, which will have posed them big problems.

The following day, Caps leaves on Galio against Evil Genius. Despite an excellent performance from Jankos on Graves and BrokenBlade on Camille, the North Americans resisted for a long time, reaching almost 40 minutes of play, before falling under the European assaults. ORDER, on the other hand, is not deluded for long, and is beaten in less than 25 minutes on the third day. Once again, it is the G2 sololaners that stand out the most, even if the botlane duo also remains excellent. The samurai seem to be off to a good start in their tournament, and their rookies are currently adapting to the international level.

Anivia in competition!!

A great day well negotiated

The first match was again against the Evil Geniuses. Now that the ping issues have been resolved, both teams had no more excuses. The meeting was hotly contested, and despite a good start from the Europeans, the North Americans managed to regain the advantage following some great collective action. However, the science of samurai teamfights allows them to outclass their opponents, and without having really trembled, the G2 continue their undefeated course. The Australians, on the other hand, fail to deceive. The story is still a little different this time, because it is Jankos who shines on Nidalee. The Polish jungler dictated his pace throughout the game, finishing in 8/2/11 while allowing his team to recover 14 of the 15 takeable plates at the start of the game. Once again, ORDER bows in less than 25 minutes.

For their final meeting, the Americans are determined to clear their honor. The two teams remain neck and neck for the majority of the game. However, this equality is only an illusion, because it is the G2s who dictate the rhythm of the game, while their opponents are content to react, even if they manage to punish the rare opposing errors. The Europeans take advantage of their advantage in map domination and vision capture to make a Baron Nashor under the nose and beard of the EGs. The latter will not recover, and must bow once more. The G2 approach their last match in a more relaxed way, with a duo Sion / Senna botlane, Yone top and Gwen mid. Caps is again the main architect of the victory, with Jankos, allowing the samurai to finish this phase without any defeats.

The former support of Karmine Corp now shines at MSI, under the G2 flag. But as they say: out of sight, close to the heart… Targamas seems to keep part of his KC soul with a certain nostalgia. Through an article from the Karmine shop.
