LoL: MSI draw, a somewhat special group for G2 Esports!

League of Legends never stops. At the moment, we are closely following the European Masters where several French structures are involved. But after this European competition, another very big tournament will take place: the MSI. This brings together the major league champions of the Spring Split. This year, we will take the direction of South Korea and we can’t wait to see if, at home, T1 and Faker will manage to assume their favorite status.

Like last year, the competition will be divided into 3 parts :

  • A first group phase, where the 11 participating teams were divided into 3 pools
  • A second group stage, with a single large pool
  • A final phase, of knockout stage

The draw has already taken place and we know the composition of the first group stage… And the least we can say is that our European representatives have been spoiled! G2 inherits a group a little specialbut above all very easy !

The compositions of the groups

In pool A, T1 should go without too much trouble. The Koreans, invincible since the beginning of the year, are not afraid of anyone. For second place, the race promises to be very open. Japan had a great performance at the 2021 Worlds and we will closely follow the performance of DFM and their French-speaking coach, Kazu. But it will be necessary to be wary of the Vietnamese representatives, who sign their great return on the international scene after a very long absence. We would tend to give the hand to the Japanese… For the simple and good reason that Vietnam does not send its strongest team because of the Asian Games which will take place afterwards. Finally, we really have little data about the Latin American team.

T1 (Korea)

Saigon Buffalo (Vietnam)

Team Aze (Latin America)

DFM (Japan)

Group B seems to have a fairly simple hierarchy to establish: RNG and the PSG should pass without any problem in the next round. Both teams were already there last year and they had been part of the semi-finalists. Seeding not having much importance for the next stage, we will not debate any longer to know who will finish first and who will finish second. Behind, the Turks and Brazilians have very little hope.

RNG (China)

PSG Talon (PCS)

Istanbul Wildcats (Turkey)

Red Canids (Brazil)

With the absence of the Russian league (LCL), there are only 11 participants in the MSI and the organizers had to form a group of 3. The Europeans of G2 fall into it, with the Americans of the LCS. We will therefore have the right to a maximum of matches EU vs. NA from the first phase. It’s a godsend for the beautiful game. Regarding the qualification, it seems totally free. They are 3 for 2 places and we really don’t worry about the Samurai. Mathematically, it’s more than doable. Moreover, the third thief of the group, the Oceanians, do not scare anyone.

We no longer present Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski, the best jungler in history in Europe. The Pole is renowned for being talkative and on stream, he regales the community with his declarations. But this time, he didn’t really make us happy… He wasn’t kind to the top EUM teams.
