LoL: No French but 3 French speakers to follow at MSI!

France is not lacking in talent and the performance of our LFL teams at European Masters is here to prove it. Unfortunately, there won’t really be a tricolor in Busan for the MSI. Obviously, we could mention Romain Bigeard, the Manager of G2 Esports. But on the field, there will be no Blue… Our compatriots have not been unworthy, whether in the LEC or the LCS. Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough and they will watch the competition as mere spectators.

However, we will still have the pleasure of finding three French speakers on the spot. We will obviously try to have them interviewed and we hope that they will manage to go as far as possible… Especially since one of them is playing for G2 Esportsour European representative.

Targamas: the fan favorite (G2 Esports)

Targu will obviously be the francophone we will follow with the most passion. The former resident of Karmine Corp. shines in his new team. After winning the small European cup in 2021 (two EUM titles), he won the big one this year at the LEC. The Belgian support stood out by playing a lot of different champions. Rather shy and reserved in real life, he is however totally unleashed on Summoner’s Rift. It forms with Flaked a young but terribly effective botlane.

We have already had the chance to speak to him several times during his incredible run in the European elite. We hope that we will once again have the opportunity to interview him to get his impressions during the tournament. This is also the first time he will play at such an international level. While playing in the LFL last year, he is expected to cross paths with legends like Faker and Xiaohu at the MSI. It’s a dream come true.

Kazu: Japan’s Brother (DFM)

The coach of DFM is Japanese, but he speaks perfectly good French, since he has lived with us for more than twenty years. We surely don’t tell you much, since we have regularly questioned Kazu at previous international events. DFM dominates its region head and shoulders and over time, we have forged real ties with the Japanese. Last year, we had the opportunity to follow day after day the adventure of his team that he led to the Main Event of the Worlds! For this MSI, he will find the behemoths of T1 from the first phase. The champions of LJL will try to take their revenge to confirm that in Asia, it is not only the Korea and the China who rely on League of Legends.

The Japanese community is in any case very endearing and the casters are also worth the detour. And we will notice that there are also several Korean players (3) in the DFM roster. We must therefore take this team very seriously, it has a status to enforce and its double confrontation against the Vietnameseback after several years of absence, looks heavy in consequences.

Vulcan: Francophonie in all its splendor (Evil Geniuses)

The French hoped to find the tricolor Hans-Sama at MSI. But at the LCS, Evil Geniuses ruled the roost. For the first time in its modern history, the structure will participate in an international competition. While the NA region has often been mocked, the pressure will be on to restore the image of North America. In any case, the players are not lacking in confidence and the team’s midlaner, jojopyun launched hostilities by announcing that he was going to “shit on Europe”. It was a little daring, but it at least shows that he does not come to the MSI to play the role of expiatory victim.

But the EG player who interests us is Philippe “Vulcan” Laflamme. The Canadian support is from Quebec and therefore speaks French, with a slight accent. Last year at the Worlds, he released some punchlines in an interview with the Cloud9 jersey on his back. We hope that will still be the case this year… The player is a regular at international tournaments and he rarely disappoints, which is all the more remarkable as he represents a region that is not at the top in this kind of situation.

The draw has spoken and for the MSI, we will have the opportunity to see from the first phase a historic rivalry of the League of Legends scene: EU vs NA. LCS Champion Evil Geniuses has decided to kick things off with a shock statement from Joseph “jojopyun” Joon Pyun.
