After the victory of Gen.G. on XRD, Peanut answered questions from Korizon Esports (Korean youtube channel). After talking about the team strategy during the games, his pick Skarner and advice given to him by Score on the champion, the former KOO Tigers gave his opinion on the level difference between the LCK and the LPL. He first returned to his experience at LGD, before moving on to what makes the LPL better than the LCK today.

The difference between LGD and Gen.G.

The jungler first explains that there is some difference in mentality on how post match analyzes are handled. In LCKmany teams analyze the player mistakes, so as not to reproduce them. At the house of LGD, it worked differently. The players wondered rather how they could have done to win. To very roughly simplify the matter, it would seem that the Korean teams are trying to don’t make mistakeswhile the Chinese teams seek above all to find ways to win a gameeven if it is badly engaged.

This can already have an impact on the mental in game, with players who on the one hand go rehash their clumsinesswhile the others will directly try toanticipate what’s next. Although it probably won’t last long for a Korean, being partially distracted for even a minute can allow the opposing team to snowball a bit more. And seeing that the difference can be made on detailsthis one could be one.

The number of BO5

The main reason explaining the difference in level between the two regions would be, according to Peanut, the number of BO5 played by a team. These are the matches that are the most important, because in all regional and international formats, it is usually them (with some exceptions in the early rounds) that mark the elimination of a team. LPL teams being more manythey play more BO5 during the playoffs and therefore arrive better prepared than LCK formations.

The tension generated by the threat of elimination is not really reproducible in training, so these cleaver matches are very important. With 6 out of 10 teams participating in the LCK playoffsit seems difficult to accept more for knockoutsunder penalty of making the much less interesting regular season. The most logical solution would therefore be to include more teams in the leagueor of set up a loser bracket like in Europe. North America and China.

League of Legends

Have more teams in the championship could also allow to have a higher championship. If in regions with 10 teams, there are generally between three and four teams above the lot (even 5), in LPL there are 7 which we would not be surprised to see them win the championship. This does not mean that there is a perfect equality between each team, but even if most analysts put RNG or Victory 5 above LNG, a final victory of the latter would be unexpected but not surprising.

The League of Legends showmatch between the two Internet stars took place on July 9. The winning team won $150,000, but this meeting did not stop talking about it. Bjergsen should have participated, but Riot Games rules prevented him from doing so.
