LoL: Riot Details Upcoming Jungle Changes For The 2023 Season

Riot Games has a new goal. Indeed, the publisher and developer of League of Legends intends to make its game more accessible and reduce the differences between the ways of playing in competition and in ranked games. To begin this heavy task, Riot takes on the jungle and has a priority of “reducing the barrier to entry” with regard to knowledge of the game and the strategies surrounding it.

“Right now in LoL it’s unrealistic to expect a ton of different characters to be viable at the highest levels of play because a lot of them just can’t optimize their cleans enough to keep up with the others.”

Thus, in order to reduce this significant gap between the meta of the competitive scene and ranked games, Riot is experimenting on different aspects. The way junglers communicate with their teammates, the way jungler objects are designedas well as how players move through the jungle are points that the developer is currently thinking about while trying to come up with something new.

The developers even hinted that they would add “helpers” who would take the form of familiars. These animals will follow you into the Rift and will help you clear camps and claim neutral objectives. The more things you do in the jungle, the stronger your pet becomes. Nothing is clear yet about how these will work, but it’s highly likely to see them arrive with the pre-season patch. Riot wants to make life easier for junglers, by making the position more accessible to new playerswhile keeping the experience interesting for seasoned veterans.

“The goal is absolutely not to water down the jungle or take away the ability to show off knowledge of the jungle, but to make sure the jungle is intricate in all the right places.”

Other aspects of the jungle will also be modified, in particular the impact of the Scuttler. As a reminder, the League of Legends pre-season patches are launched in November, you will therefore have to be patient.
