One of the most painful flaws in League of Legends is that Riot Games is not good at telling stories through the game. It is true that the developer has covered this area through wonderful AV products like Arcane, its Universe site or details in other titles that are part of the Runeterra universe. However, in-game events never quite convinced. A situation that, in part, the company wants to solve with the hiring of a new employee who would immediately become one of the most important in the whole company.
Looking for someone who can change League of Legends
The interest in hiring a creative director was explained by Riot Meddler, studio director in charge of League of Legends. This first information already gives us an indication of the importance of the position, which would have the following functions: “To unite, guide and inspire a group of developers from different disciplines to achieve our long-term creative vision”. It is however more interesting to note that the post seems to be split into two parts. One is MOBA-related and involves close collaboration with the game director, and the other focuses on project collaboration. such as “Arcane, Legends of Runeterra and other new video games”.
Another reason the offer is so big is because it’s a position that didn’t exist in League of Legends. Also, if the position of creative director has different meanings depending on the developer, what Riot Games explained suggests a position specializing in deciding franchise-related stories and how the process will be conducted. To all this we must still add the first statements of the new head of the flagship studio of Riot Games, who expressed his desire to improve the events of the game.
Believe it or not, League of Legends is in the midst of a rebuild. Riot Games’ expansion has been quite rapid, with many employees transferring to other games or leaving the company in recent months. In this sense, it looks like the developer is taking advantage of the current situation to rethink how its flagship game works and that won’t be the only major change we’ll see over the next few months.
