LoL: Survive with 0 HP without bugs, it’s possible!

It’s been almost a year now since we last saw Kryze in LEC. The Swedish top laner was relegated to Excel Esports and now plays in the JDXL academy team. He therefore always remains very active, whether in competition or in Ranked and he recently came across a little madness: a Sivir who returned a fight despite having fallen to 0 HP.

Obviously taken aback, he shared his misadventure on Twitter, seeking an explanation and possibly comfort. And if some have directly thought of a bug, a possible explanation that holds water has been put forward by LSundisputed specialist in League of Legends.

A question of display and calculation

A game of League of Legends can be played on details. The best players juggle figures to process information as quickly as possible. To cite a few examples, we can talk about the tracking of CDs, the optimization of items or the evaluation of the amount of damage. However, the human brain has limits…as do the programs on which the game is based!

According to LS, the game would round certain amounts, especially when there are two digits after the decimal point. He takes the example of 2.25 or 2.38. He then assumes that in the case of Kryze, the Sivir, before being healed, fell below 0.5 HP. However, the game was not able to display a life bar of 0.26 HP (theoretical example), it displayed a completely empty life bar on the frames concerned. If this theory, which has been supported by other Twitter users, is confirmed, then we cannot really speak of a bug. Sivir wouldn’t have died, for good reason. We can, at most, speak of “display bug“. The CDA didn’t invent a Tryndamere ultimate out of the blue.

Other alternative, less convincing explanations

Kryze took to Twitter to figure it out and other theories were shared on the networks. To be completely transparent, they seemed a bit less convincing. But they remain theoretically possible, given that we advance with limited information.

  • A bug in the game
  • A “real” display bug that displayed imaginary damage taken by Sivir before rolling back
  • A mechanic related to Sivir’s Shield

lfl-lol

It’s hard to know if LFL teams played League of Legends or tennis yesterday. They indeed slammed a clean and convincing 6-0. Even if this kind of copy was expected, it remains very encouraging for the future. Vitality.Bee and GameWard, it’s solid!
