The French co-production Arcane, based on the League of Legends universe, is the first streaming series to win an Emmy.

It’s a short story consecration for the Arcane series, based on the League of Legends universe. After winning no less than 9 prizes at the Annie Awards, an event known to be the Oscars of animation, the co-production between Riot Games and the French studio Fortiche can now lift another statuette. Tonight, season 1 (still available on Netflix) lands the best animated program at the Emmy Awards.

The real ceremony will only take place on September 12, but some prizes are awarded in advance this year via the 74th Creative Arts Emmy Awards. Arcane is notably ahead of an episode of The Simpsons or even the What If on Doctor Strange. Unfortunately, the series did not get the Best Sound Mixing award where it was nominated. Finally, Arcane gets three of the six Special Animation Awards 2022 for three different episodes.

The 74th Emmy Awards will take place on September 12 with 12 nominations for the HBO series Succession and the presence of Better Call Saul or Squid Game.
