LoL: The content of the first emergency patch of the 2023 preseason has been revealed

Just hours after the arrival of the 2023 preseason in League of Legends, Riot Games announced that it was going to roll out a new update to increase the power of champions or items that found themselves in worse shape after the introduced patch 12.22. A series of emergency adjustments comprising eight improvements will be added to the game as soon as possible. The list of changes announced by the studio also includes a nerf to what has become the most important item in this new cycle of play.

The emergency changes to the game for the 2023 preseason

As usual when updates are announced, the developers don’t reveal all the details, only posting a list of game elements that will undergo changes. The studio’s objective seems obvious. At least in the champion section, focus has been placed on characters that exhibit performance well below average. Item level, we can see a buff for two items dedicated to tanks, but also for the Age-Old Staff, much weaker than in our memories.

  • Champion Buffs : Amumu, Ivern, Kindred, Maokai, Rammus and Shaco (the latter receives bugfixes)
  • Item Buffs : Jak’Sho , Age-old Staff, Radiant Virtue
  • nerves of objects : Ravenous Hydra

Perhaps the most surprising adjustment is the power reduction that the Ravenous Hydra receives, which seems to be the most broken item of the 2023 preseason in the eyes of Riot Games. All in all, it looks like the League of Legends devs weren’t wrong. Most of the champions who can take advantage of this have managed to establish themselves as the best at the top lane level. This is the case, for example, of Fiora and Camille. Both champions have been formidable since the last patch thanks to this item, so it’s no surprise that its power has been moderately reduced to make it a little less unbalanced.

League of Legends officials reminded that this is only a first step and there are still many characters to adjust. The goal is to balance systems and then focus on individual champions. That is why the studio only focused on some of the more overdone and obvious cases in patch 12.22, leaving other tweaks that might also be needed for later.

For the last clash of the year, League of Legends has a little surprise in store for fans of the ARAM game mode. It must be said that in full preseason, the tryhard is not always recommended. But beware, the fun game mode will undergo some small adjustments in its rules.
