Riot Games has a problem with League of Legends. The vastness of the game makes it impossible to please everyone. Players are asking for a new character from a certain category, returning champions from a particular region, or a hero with a particular look. In this sense, it is impossible for the developer to satisfy everyone with each release. However, what Riot Games doesn’t do, fans do.. The community is often responsible for bringing us what many of us have been waiting for for years. Which happened again with one of the most interesting champions we’ve ever seen.
The champion League of Legends has needed for years
Created by a community artist who was continuing her education to continue thriving in the gaming world, Fei is one of the highest quality champions we’ve ever seen. A thief in her youth, she came to League of Legends to become the most dangerous grandmother in Summoner’s Rift. An archetype we’ve never seen in the game before and miss. It is true that Riot Games is more and more open to this kind of idea, but it is precisely this situation that makes us hope for the arrival of such a character.
The work is certainly impressive and on par with Riot Games’ best designs, but it doesn’t stop there. In addition to being an interesting character in concept and executed to perfection, the artist in question also dared to give an idea of what the champion’s abilities could be.. In these cases, it should always be kept in mind that we are not talking about game design experts. However, in what would be Fei’s spell kit, there are some very interesting tools.
- Passive : When leveling up, the champion gains a permanent damage bonus that is only active if all his abilities are ready to be cast.
- HAS – Fei commands Faust (his hat) to spit an energy dart that travels in a straight line and can hit up to three enemy champions. Damage increases with each character hit and also affects minions.
- Z : Attacks with his staff filled with arcane energy, launching a claw-like projectile at enemies. The first champion hit is stunned for three seconds, and before the duration expires, Fei can shake them to immobilize them again for a split second.
- E : Increases champion damage with a crystal for ten seconds. If a character is killed while affected by the ability, they take permanent bonus damage. If the bearer of the buff is killed, it grants double gold.
- R : Fei creates a dimensional void and can be moved anywhere on the map after 3 seconds of channeling. When worn, the breach area also deals damage.
If the abilities are a bit strange, we insist that they are just an excuse to create the visual effects. Still, we’ve been looking forward to seeing a new global ranged spell in the game for a long time. It’s also worth noting that, having created this character before Renata Glasc, the artist was already thinking of a mechanic that would allow her to “shake” enemies. It is true that the gameplay is not as good as the visuals, but for that there are different departments involved in character development.
League of Legends offers increasingly diverse characters, but it still has to pay off some of its great debts to the community. One of them would be the introduction of an older female character — whose weight of years would be visible in her appearance.. This archetype has been requested many times, and while Riot Games has been open to such creations, the to-do list is far too long. Until that day, we will have to settle for creations such as Fei, which will make our imagination explode.
