LoL: The LFL receives a deserved advantage for the next EUM!

More than ever, the LFL is perceived as the best of ERL. The European League of Legends scene is very competitive, but the French league has proven time and time again to be above it. Good news, for the next EUM France will have an additional (deserved) advantage!

Karnage teased the announcement and the community was eagerly awaiting the big reveal! The French league of League of Legends (LFL) received a big advantage for the next European Masters, a competition that brings together all the best ERL teams (France, Spain, Germany, Poland…). Even if this advantage will surely make people jealous, we hope that the European community will nevertheless have the decency to recognize that it is well deserved. As a reminder, the LFL is the national league that has collected the most trophies since the start of the competition: Karmine Corp x2, Misfits Premier and LDLC OL.
The big announcement: a 4th slot for the LFL at the EUM
France has so far sent 3 representatives to the EUM with 2 teams automatically qualified for the Main Event and 1 team which had to go through the Play-In. For the next EUMs, France will now send 4 competitors : 2 Main Event, 2 Play-Ins. We do not know exactly how the seedings will be done and if the French teams will not be able to cross paths during the different group stages. But mathematically, being more numerous remains a definite advantage to once again bring home the cup.
Why does France receive a 4th slot?
To answer this question, two steps must be detailed. At first it should be noted that the EUM found themselves with 2 additional places to be allocated with the end of the Baltic National League. To put it simply, the latter merged with the Polish league (the Ultraliga) where we find for example the team Iron Wolves, former representatives of this minor league. A solution had to be found to redistribute these two tickets and after exploring the possible options it was decided:
- The first ticket was given to the Ultraligabecause the region ingested the Baltic National League.
- The second ticket was given to the LFLto reward good results over time.
For the moment, Poland and France are therefore favored in the next EUM. But nothing is carved in stone and we don’t yet know if these 4 slots will be kept permanently or if things will change depending on future results.
