LoL: The mistake made by thousands of players with K’Sante which spoils the champion’s debut

New champions coming to League of Legends often do so with a very low win rate. In the first few days after a character’s debut, players are more likely to make all sorts of mistakes. It’s easy to mess with the objects or misunderstand the mechanics. Ultimately, mastering a champion takes a long time. This is something that can be seen since the arrival of K’Sante in Summoner’s Rift. However, without wishing to be alarmist, the situation with the new champion has been particularly problematic.

The error with K’Sante which condemns thousands of players

K’Sante’s first day in League of Legends was summed up by a 38.9% win rate. We would like to point out that this is not particularly worrying yet because we have already had many champion debuts and we know that it will improve as the days go by. The problem, however, is that part of these bad numbers are due to a very easy to understand reality: many players haven’t bothered to look at how exactly the champion works before selecting him.

Summary of the best and worst K’Sante items

If we look at the statistics of the new champion since his release, we see that in one out of four games, players choose to sabotage themselves. This is roughly the number of times, in proportion, players choose Conqueror as their main rune. A choice that not only does not help the character, but shows a lack of understanding of how it works. Less often repeated, but even more serious, is the use of damage-focused mythic items — like the Divine Slayer.

The problem with both of these options is that they focus on attack damage, a stat that offers no potency to K’Sante.. Only two of the champion’s abilities are based on attack damage in normal form. Q – Ntofo Strikes and R – Big Game increase his damage by an amount equal to 40% of his attack damage. It is a very low amount which leads to paradoxical situations. One of the most obvious is that the damage we get when activating Q is higher if we have two Cloth Armors in our inventory than if we equip two Longswords.

League of Legends

In these circumstances, betting on runes or items that increase our damage is a very bad decision. It is simply not possible to assign a value to this statistic, because K’Sante’s skill set is designed in such a way that he has to buy a lot of armor and magic resistance. In this sense, it would have been enough to take a look at the descriptions of the spells to avoid making a mistake which, moreover, is repeated at all ranks in the game. Of course, it is more frequent in the categories Gold and Silver, where it happens to one in four players, but in the Diamond and above categories, it’s one in five players who fall into the trap.

Hopefully the situation will normalize over time. However, this helps rekindle a long-standing debate: should the new champions be available in ranked as soon as they are released? Riot Games says that doesn’t matter, as League of Legends players would wait until they’re in ranked games to try them out for the first time. However, we would be spared the kind of bugs that can make games very difficult because our teammate didn’t even read the skills…

By the end of the year, we shouldn’t have any great news on League of Legends – but the developers are already working on their 2023 program. A future rework would have been teased in the next set to come on Teamfight Tactics.
