League of Legends is full of champions who delight both players and fans. cosplayers. They can give free rein to their imagination and are spoiled for choice when dressing up. But if we take into account the different skins, some characters have ten, the possibilities are multiplied! Take the case of Ahri for example. The vixen is very popular among cosplayers and you can find the classic skin, the Academy, Arcade or KD/A skin everywhere.
LEC teams seem to have agreed to push the Star Guardian line of skins lately. Venerable Andrei “Odoamne” Pascu (27) came to the Berlin studio in Star Guardian Ahri much to the delight of fans. But this little show was not entirely innocent.
A story of big money
League of Legends is a free-to-play and Riot Games is proud of its model. Players don’t need to pull out the blue card to play or get stronger. But, you have to put butter in the spinach and the company still has a turnover that makes you dizzy. There are thus many microtransactions to buy in-game content. The latter is purely cosmetic (skins, emotes, icons, chromas…) but it remains very popular within the community, which always appreciates being able to benefit from a personified gaming experience. We don’t always know precisely how much a skin brings in, especially since we have to take into account that a skin generates income over time and that there are also promotions and offers that complicate the calculations. But if we base ourselves on the skins that have been the subject of humanitarian action, we know that the skin Ornn Elderwood generated over $7 million in revenue in just a few months. The skin business is juicy and there is a lot of money circulating.
With this in mind, Riot Games has decided to boost its sales by calling on luxury sandwich men… LEC players! European elite teams have been given a specific link to sell Star Guardian skins. Between 5 and 10% sums spent via this link will go directly to the structure. All the teams participate and some, like Rogue, don’t hesitate to lend a hand to convince their supporters to give in to temptation, while financially supporting their core team.
G2 also did the show
Earlier; the Samurai of G2 Esport also gave of their person. Ocelotethe boss of the structure also did a little cosplay (Lux Star Guardian) on video and the technical staff dressed up to come to the LEC studio, with a Romain Bigeard still just as pixel in his disguises.
It is not known if the two teams will manage to be the ones that will sell the most skins via their link. But Riot Games can at least salute them for the effort! Unfortunately for Odoamne and Rogue, the disguise did not bring luck to the team who lost their match in stride…
