LoL: The remake function will undergo changes, and the community is delighted

The introduction of the “remake” feature in League of Legends has been very well received by the community. Being able to cancel and restart a game when a teammate has encountered a technical problem or has simply left the game at the start of the game makes it possible to avoid an almost systematic defeat.

However, since its arrival in 2016, the tool has hardly evolved. Not that players regularly complain about it, but a recent controversy prompted Riot Games to react and make changes for Season 13.

Thoughtful changes

In addition to the new 2023 preseason adjustments, the remake option has undergone changes on the PBE, in particular on the timings of the launch of the vote, the voting time, and the detection of AFKs. Riot Games’ goal is to further protect players who are ready to play the instant the game launches.

  • Remake voting can now be cast from minute 1:30 instead of 3:00
  • You will now have 90 seconds to vote, down from 30
  • Detecting an AFK player will now only take 90 seconds, down from 180

The changes are certainly compelling for most of the community, who have been asking for some time now to be able to start voting after 90 seconds of play (when the lane phase begins). This improvement is very important in combination with the other two. We can vote at the 90th second and for 90 seconds thereafter to restart the game if an ally has spent more than 90 seconds AFK. This means that if someone is in-game when the timer hits the first minute and they disconnect, we can still type /remake in chat 90 seconds later (minute two and a half) to redo it.

If they are introduced, these changes would save us from almost all of the failed remakes that we have certainly had to deal with in recent years. A priori, they should arrive during the next Patch — 12.20 — on the live servers of League of Legends. However, some of the improvements are still being tested, and with all the pre-season hubbub, Riot Games might not be able to make the changes in time. In the worst case, we won’t have to wait long for the “remake” function to be changed once and for all.

As we learned on the wiki, some of Sylas’ spell animations are from other League of Legends champions.
