LoL: The small change proposed by the community that would improve the clarity of the game

The League of Legends community is directly responsible for some of the changes to the game. Design details that the developer had overlooked or that didn’t seem important were changed thanks to player suggestions. Riot Games tends to pay a lot of attention to suggestions. A good example is the recent durability update, a months-long work that was largely driven by player insistence. A situation that today, with a much less ambitious but very interesting modification, could happen again.

A small change to improve clarity

The suggestion in question concerns Vision Beacons and their interaction with Oracle Scrambler. Players feel that the silhouette of the beacons when revealed by the infamous red bucket is too confusing. This issue is caused by ward skins, which have unique silhouettes and can sometimes look similar to smaller champions in the game or be mistaken for another item. There are even beacon skins known to produce this type of situation, the most famous of which are the following…

  • melancholy mummy
  • His Majesty of the Crabs
  • SKT T1 kkOma

Admittedly, the contours and distortion caused by the Oracle Scrambler have given League of Legends players some scares. This change seems reasonable, especially when Riot Games is so obsessed with game clarity.. The developer made full visual updates to some champions simply because they felt they didn’t meet the minimum requirement. As such, it doesn’t seem far-fetched to change the beacon silhouette to a default look or add some sort of indicator.

However, the community has reported this issue on other occasions without it ever reaching the ears of the developers. It’s true that Riot Games is very careful about any changes related to the sale of skins, but it’s hard to think anyone would really care that their beacon didn’t look different in such a specific situation.. Also, where a cosmetic can provide benefits, it is often very straightforward. In this sense, it is a question of waiting and seeing if, this time, the change is included in the list of priorities of the developers.

A member of the League of Legends community has created a gigantic post criticizing all of Riot Games’ events, claiming that they “have always been pretty bad”. To his surprise, one of the company’s founders responded by offering him a job.
