Riot Games is prioritizing former League of Legends champions more than ever. Throughout Season 12, a dozen characters received what the developer called mid-range upgrades.. the studio reminded us of its commitment by confirming the next champions who will receive these changes, and there was a surprise. It’s Jax, who is going to receive major changes in his abilities after many years of waiting.
Riot Games’ goal with the Jax update
While we are used to updates of this type including a large number of changes, Riot Games wanted to lower the expectations of the community and reassure Jax fans. The studio believes that the champion could benefit from an update, but not that he needs to change his identity. In that sense, these will be far more ambitious adjustments than a simple balance fix, but they won’t reach the level of those suffered by Olaf, Amumu, or Syndra last year. According to one of the developers working there, the focus will be on improving the feel of his ultimate.
The truth is that the changes planned by the League of Legends developers seem rather interesting. While Jax’s ultimate is very useful in fights and his passive is outstanding, throwing the ultimate is a mere formality that doesn’t add much in terms of gameplay feel.n this sense, it is likely that the design team decides to give a little more power to its activation and make it a little more spectacular so that the champion adapts to what has become a standard in the game. All this will be done without giving power to the character. As with the other mid-range buffs, it will take a bit here and there and put it into another spell.
In addition to Jax, Riot Games has confirmed that Rell’s rework, whose abilities appear to have been leaked, will be available soon. Both of these changes are expected to be unveiled during the 2023 pre-season, possibly when the next round on the PBE starts, which will take place on December 7. As for the changes on Neeko, although they should have arrived by now, there have been some issues finalizing them and we will have to wait for the start of Season 13 for her to receive her update.
