LoL: When a Hextech portal saves a Twitch from a perilous situation

League of Legends Season 12 is about to hit its halfway mark, leaving us with a metagame that could be more varied or a surprise champion that always brings us some diversity. While the arrivals of Zeri and Renata Glasc have enlivened the game for many of us, it’s true that there hasn’t been one particular champion who has been overwhelmingly dominant over the past few months.

But this time we are not going to talk about the metagame as such, but about a strange interaction that will allow you to save your life. It’s nothing more than preventing Karthus’ ultimate from hitting us head-on and, if we’re low on hitpoints, killing us. The tool at the center of this bug is neither a champion nor an item, but a Hextech portal.

A saving bug

As we all know, the ultimate Karthus – Requiem cannot be dodged and it deals high damage, especially if the champion’s build is made up of three or more items. The main counterbalance to this ultimate is the timer, but if you’re a pure physical damage ADC, purchasing this item won’t do much good—unless you’re planning on doing a Guardian Angel in the late game. This is why physical damage based champions are quite diminished when trying to “dodge” this ability, especially with low HP.

That’s when a Reddit user called Avaken ran into a bug that saved his life: if you use a Hextech portal when Karthus casts his ultimate, you are not affected by the spell.

Once again, it is therefore the League of Legends community itself that finds new bugs in the game, bug that should be fixed very quickly by the studio (at the latest during the next patch). It remains to be seen if, with the arrival of other champions, there will be new ways to avoid death with the ultimate of Karthus, but for now we will have to settle for what we currently have in the Summoner’s Rift.

The new Eclipse-themed skins have arrived with a little something that has the community excited and shows just how much potential League of Legends cosmetics have when Riot Games takes them seriously.
