Military service in Korea: what is Deft’s situation?

- Korean men must, with some exceptions, enlist in the army no later than 28 years old. Deft will be 27 next year so he is not necessarily constrained by time. There is even a procedure to delay his commitment to 30 years, but it must go through a commission and have a very good justification… knowing that even the biggest stars of K-PoP have difficulty obtaining this agreement.
- The majority of Koreans enlist in their early twenties. The more Deft delays his service, the more there will be a significant age gap with his companions, which is not necessarily pleasant. Additionally, there is a selection and preparation process to get a better assignment (service), which sometimes requires trying hard a bit IRL. Koreans also like to enjoy a little before committing, just to decompress and enjoy.
