LoL: Worlds 2022, the groups have been drawn!

We stayed up late yesterday night, to follow the final of the LCS. To be completely honest, the showdown between Cloud9 and 100 Thieves didn’t put on a great show and the 100 Thieves, caught red-handed, were non-existent. The Bo5 did not last long, but to console ourselves, we had the right to draw lots for the hens of Worlds.

As usual, some come out with a rather lenient draw, even if in this kind of competition, there are only quality opponents. Others, like G2find themselves with a very complicated group… The penalty is double for the Samurai after their defeat against Rogue.

The Main Event chickens

  • Pool A : Cloud9, T1, EDG, team from the Play-In
  • Pool B : JD Gaming, G2 Esports, DWG KIA, team from the Play-In
  • Pool C : Rogue, Top Esports, GAM Esports, Play-In team
  • Pool D : Gen.G, CTBC Flying Oyster, 100 Thieves, Play-In team

It is often difficult to decide before the start of the competition. But on paper, 2 groups can claim to win the title of group of death. Pool A with two former winners of the competition (T1 and EDG), a team regularly in the top 8 in the world (Cloud9) and a 4th team which could be European (MAD Lions or Fnatic?). Perhaps more obviously, Pool B is also very scary with JD Gaming, G2 Esports and DWG KIA… The Samurai will have to work hard to avoid going out the door prematurely.

Snape is doing quite well and can hope to join the quarters for the first time in its history. Apart from TES, there shouldn’t be too many difficulties.

The hens of the Play-In

  • Hen 1 : Fnatic, Beyond Gaming, DFM, EG, LOUD, Chiefs
  • Hen 2 : DRX, RNG, Saigon Buffalo, MAD, Istanbul Wildcats, Isurus

For the first time, Europe will have 2 teams starting the adventure during the Play-In. They are likely to face each other and eliminate each other, but we hope that there will not be a fratricidal struggle so early in the tournament… In any case, in the group stage the two teams could not not meet. Fnatic is rather smiling in inheriting a rather quiet hen, without Koreans or Chinese. The team can aim for first place, which would qualify them directly for the main tournament.

First place is a sweet dream for MAD Lions who find themselves with RNG and DRX in their pool. The Lions do not have the favor of the forecasts and it will surely be necessary to whip to hope to join the Main Event.

The final weekend has arrived in the LEC! The finals are currently being played in Malmö and 3 teams are fighting for the title: G2, Rogue and Fnatic. Who will manage to develop the best League of Legends? Response after two Bo5 which promise to be boiling.
