Winner of Spring 2022 in Div 2 on League Of Legends, the MCES esports club has established itself in a very competitive universe and has thus shown that it has real talents with it. Based in Marseille and founded in 2018, MCES aims to make esport a discipline in its own right, with an organization similar to that of a traditional sports club.
MCES recently made a big announcement: the structure opens its capital, thus allowing everyone to be able to invest in it and help the team to grow at the level of professional and amateur esports, thus developing a unique model. On this occasion, Nanix and the whole team of MGG Daily have received Romain Sombret, president of MCES. Back on the terms of this crowdfunding campaign and entry into the capital.
Anyone can invest
The principle is simple, absolutely anyone can take part in the system. From the modest sum of €10, it will therefore be possible to become a shareholder of MCES, without however having the right to vote on the decisions of the club. On the other hand, dividends are to be expected!
The MCES strategy
While it was present on FIFA or on mobile esports, the club is now focusing in Europe on two games: LoL (with LFL Div 2) and Fortnite (less competitive but still very effective).
With a focus on both professional and amateur esports, MCES intends to develop well. The club would also have signed with large traditional sports federations for development sports academies within traditional sports clubs. The goal is to bring together these two worlds so close, and ultimately not so different. With this strategy, MCES hopes to be profitable from 2023, in barely a year.
A model at OL
Like a club like Olympique Lyonnais, the goal of MCES is to build a training center to allow the world of amateur esports to really develop to give everyone a chance. . As Romain Sombret puts it so well, it’s hard not to lose money in an esports club and therefore MCES “seek his way”in order to develop sustainably.
“Introduce esport in traditional clubs”
Romain Sombret also reveals that MCES has signed an exclusive two-year contract with the TFF — the French Tennis Federation, with the aim of developing esports sections in tennis clubs. Once again, the goal is to combine the two worlds to really democratize the presence of esport clubs all over France. Even if the club does not forget its Marseille origins, the horizon of possibilities is much broader.
For this, MCES has set up an equipment rental and support system with the clubs in question, “like a franchise”.
“We must assume what we do, what we are”
Aware of the strong competitiveness and the colossal resources of esports clubs in Europe, Romain Sombret says that it is important “to assume” what MCES is. In the absence of being able to seek out major esports clubs like Vitality, MCES needs to find its own way. In French competitions like Div 2 or the Mastercard Nexus Tour there are many young talents that it is important to support. It is therefore towards the latter that the ambitions of the club turn.
No NFTs or cryptocurrencies for MCES
For this crowdfunding campaign set up by MCES, it is entirely a matter of opening up capital. In a world where blockchain and NFTs tempt many companies, Romain Sombret is categorical: “No NFTs and crypto for us”. However, he admits “to have watched”but soon realized that this type of system did not correspond to the values of MCES.
As you will have understood, the goal of MCES is therefore to strengthen the link between sport and esportall in actively participating in the structuring of amateur esports. By launching this capital opening campaign, MCES allows its community to participate in the development of the club and its projects.
