LoL: XL Advienne, a classy start to the LEC

Whether professional or amateur, it’s never easy to be benched. It’s even harder to accept when the change takes place at the very beginning of the season, after only 2 weeks of LEC. Yet it is the misadventure that happened to happens, the now ex-support of EXCEL Esports. He was replaced by bigger than him, his leaders decided to give his starting place to Mihael “Mikyx” Mehle and his brilliant CV (4 European Championship titles).

More than one would have freaked out by spilling tons of salt on social networks. But Advienne is not of that type and has shown a maturity which is a pleasure to see in addition to the to grow, as a player but also as a person. While we are the first to denounce abuses and crises, when a player does something good, we must also talk about it. Thank you for the work Advienne and good luck for the future.

A farewell message, full of benevolence

The maturity d’Advienne is not a huge surprise. On the scene, he is not an old and all accumulated, he will barely have played an entire segment in the European elite. But in real life, it’s far from being a kid. The Dutchman is 24 years old and he must have seen someone else. But his age, relatively advanced for a professional League of Legends player, raises questions. It is very hard to find a good team in the middle of a segment and the majority of structures do not want to make hasty decisions. When we call each other Mikyx and that we have a well-stocked CV, the logic is different, but Advienne does not have as many trophies and experience to claim… Support remains under contract and is authorized to negotiate with other teams. For the moment, he is still in shock from the news and we imagine that he will take a little rest. But the question of retirement will inevitably arise, will he have the morale and the strength to bounce back after this twist of fate ?

In his TwitLonger, Advienne nevertheless specified that the decision had been taken by the management team, without consulting the players. We don’t know if EXCEL will communicate about this, but she shouldn’t be afraid of a possible blowback from her former player. He remained very professional in the text and he especially wished the best to his former teammates and to Mikyx : high class. It must be said that when we were able to interview the Dutchman last year, he cited among his models the former G2 … Ironically, it was his model that pushed him to the bench.

We don’t know if the #FreeMikyx worked, but the Slovenian Support eventually found a starting spot in the LEC. Benched by G2 Esports, he had failed to find a way out during the transfer window. This anomaly has been fixed and we should see it for week 3!
