LoL: You choose the next champion update

It has become a small tradition at the start of each season on League of Legends – or almost. Riot Games is offering their community the right to choose the next champion to receive a full update. Thus in 2019, two champions had the right to a complete makeover; Fiddlesticks and Volibear. Why two will you ask me? Because they had come head to head. In 2021, it was Udyr who had been acclaimed and even if its redesign is long overdue, it should arrive soon! To compensate, we were able to discover last year the very successful redesign of Dr. Mundo … who always goes where he wants!

Riot Games is therefore putting the cover back with 5 new (not really) champions in 2022.

Finally, Shyvana’s turn?

This year, you will have the choice between Tryndamere, Shyvana, Nocturne, Kog’Maw and Skarner. The Half-dragon is therefore once again put to the vote of the community and for your information, it was already present in the last two polls – just like Nocturne. Skarner was only offered in 2021.

For each champion, Riot Games explains their choice. Tryndamere is starting to get old, especially in terms of gameplay and visuals. It would not be fundamentally changed but more modernized: “His healing, showing early power, and being effective in team battles are things we would explore further.”

Shyvana doesn’t seem to live up to her theme anymore. The goal here would be to amplify the sound of a warrior transforming into a fire-breathing dragon. “As for the gameplay, we would like to make his dragon form more imposing and destructive, but also more different from his human form.”

While Nocturne is popular with new players, they are quickly turning away from it. The goal would be to modernize it and give it a youthful look.. “If we updated Nocturne we would clearly bring the idea of the ‘living nightmare that plunges its enemies into absolute darkness’ to life. Nocturne would retain its iconic ultimate, but we would create a more elaborate and satisfying base kit, that can go with it. “

For Kog’Maw, we have to give it its own identity, that of a terrifying creature of the Void. “If we were to update Kog’Maw, we would give him a complete overhaul of his kit by amplifying his hypercarry playstyle to protect at all costs. We would do our best to preserve the ‘AP artillery’ component of his game. kit, but if the need arises, we would sacrifice it for the ‘corrosive AD hypercarry’ component. “

Regarding Skarner, well he is one of the least played champions so he would be totally revised and corrected (although some basic elements and ideas can be retained). “We would like to reimagine his kit and theme, as we did for Zion and Urgot. Like the Brackern race, the Crystalline Scorpion theme is from a bygone era, which is why we would like to gift Skarner a source of clearer, more interesting power. That would mean big changes to its visuals and story. “

You have until 8:59 a.m. on January 20 to vote. You can vote directly in the League client. But beware, your vote cannot be changed after sending.

After a first look at the gameplay, we finally know the spells of Zeri, the 158th League of Legends champion. Discover the skills of the champion who promises to be electrifying!
