Lola Dewaere: for the 40th anniversary of her father’s death, she posts a souvenir photo of the actor

This Saturday July 16 marks the sad anniversary of the death of Patrick Dewaere. Forty years later, his daughter Lola Dewaere paid him a moving tribute.

Lola Dewaere has been living without her father for 40 years. On July 16, 1982, when he was only 35 years old, Patrick Dewaere committed suicide by shooting himself in the mouth. At the time, the actress was only two years old. “I said to myself, around 10 or 11, that maybe he didn’t love me and my mother enough to choose to leave like that”she confided to Pure People. Although she has not known her father for a long time, Lola Dewaere never misses an opportunity to honor his memory. This Saturday, July 16, on the occasion of the sad anniversary of the disappearance of Patrick Dewaere, she shared a tender snapshot of the actor on her Instagram account. She has indeed published a black and white photo taken on the set of Hôtel des Amériques of her famous dad in the company of Catherine Deneuve.

Next October, viewers of France 2 will discover a documentary devoted to Patrick Dewaere directed by Alexandre Moix and Lola Dewaere. “I have known Lola for about twenty years. She has absolute confidence in me and I suggested to her a year ago that she talk about her father, that she do it like a big love letter to him. ‘a girl who didn’t really know her father. She trusted me completely’entrusted the brother of Yann Moix to France Blue. And to tell the underside of this documentary: “With this text, she questions her father, she reveals him, she shakes him up, she questions herself. She also questions us about the meaning of life, the meaning of notoriety. It is a moving tribute. And Lola Dewaere said to me, after the screening of the film in Cannes, this incredible sentence: ‘I think that now, thanks to your film, I may finally be able to say daddy‘.”

Lola Dewaere: “I didn’t grow up with the weight of his absence”

In the columns of Paris MatchLola Dewaere spoke at length about this dad whom she did not know much but whom she admires. “Some people think suicide is an act of cowardice when it’s an act of courage.explains in particular the actress. Everyone knew my dad was depressed, bipolar, did drugs, and was unhappy his whole life with women…He was plagued by his demons and had a difficult life.” According to Lola Dewere, her father “loved to play passionately, but he also suffered deeply from this job where you only exist through the eyes of others”. The actress believes she inherited “his depressive temperament”, “his extreme sensitivity” and “his anger” : “I did not grow up with the weight of his absence, I managed to make it a strength”.
