The family of little Lola, killed in Paris last Friday, “needs the respect and affection of the nation”, assured Emmanuel Macron on Friday on the sidelines of a European Council in Brussels. “I think especially of Lola’s parents, her brother and her half-brother, the dismay of this family which is incredibly dignified and united in this moment,” he said.

“And I think she needs first and foremost the respect and affection of the nation,” continued the head of state, while the circumstances of Lola’s death and the profile of the suspect, of Algerian nationality, aroused strong criticism on the right and the extreme right, and that the parents of the victim indicated that they did not want “any political recovery”.

“There is an investigation into the murder of little Lola and it is up to both the investigators to shed light, and the government to explain what has been done, and to see if there are any decisions to be made. take,” said President Macron.

“We are facing radical evil”

“What affects us all?”, he then questioned. “It is the atrocity of this crime. And it is also what is both unspeakable and absolute about it: when you are faced with radical evil and you experience that it is possible in our society”, continued the Head of State, considering that “all parents live in their flesh what Lola’s parents live”.

A rally to “support family and loved ones” of the victim is planned for Friday in Fouquereuil in Pas-de-Calais, the town where the father of the young teenager is from, before a funeral scheduled for Monday at 2:30 p.m. in Lilles, city ​​of origin of his mother, in the same department.

After calls to demonstrate from the far right, the parents of the schoolgirl called on Thursday for “dignity” and “respect”, saying “(wish) that the various ceremonies take place in a spirit of serenity and calm, far from political and media unrest”.
