Lola’s funeral: “It went very quickly”, the heartbreaking words of one of his brothers in tears in front of his coffin

The funeral of Lola, 12, found dead on October 14 in Paris, was held this Monday, October 24 at the Collegiate Church of Lillers, in Pas-de-Calais. During the ceremony, one of his brothers spoke.

A day of deep sadness. This Monday, October 24 was held in Lilles the funeral of little Lola, 12, found dead on October 14 in an abandoned suitcase at the foot of her residence on 19e district of Paris. Hundreds of people, relatives, acquaintances and anonymous people, gathered in the Saint-Omer collegiate church in Lilles to pay their last respects. Some of them spoke, including one of little Lola’s brothers.

Shocking, the young boy (we do not know if it is Jordan or Thibault) spoke directly to his little sister. “I hope I was there enough for you even if it passed very quickly, did he declare. My beloved little sister, unfortunately, you left too soon. When you came back with a French gymnastics champion medal, I was so proud of you and I still am. We will miss you and know that you will always be my little sister in our hearts.” he continued before letting a few tears flow. The ceremony, celebrated by the Bishop of Arras, Mgr Olivier Leborgne, was also marked by the intervention of other members of Lola’s family. “Nothing stops our tears when a while ago we watched you laughsaid in particular one of his aunts. You will leave a great void around us (…) your departure devastates and annihilates us.”

“Why this violence and why Lola?”

In his homily, Bishop Olivier Leborgne paid tribute to Lola, but also underlined the atrocious circumstances in which the life of the little girl was stolen from him. “Lola left not only too soon but under unbearable circumstances. It is the country that is concerned and here represented“¸ he declared in particular, insisting on “the savagery of an act that leaves us speechless.” “Why this violence and why Lola?, he wondered. What is this barbarous world that sleeps so close to us?

The body of little Lola was discovered on October 14 in an abandoned trunk at the foot of her building on 19e district of Paris. A few hours earlier, the little girl was returning from Georges Brassens college, where she was educated, when she crossed paths with Dahbia B., the sister of a resident of the building. Arrested and indicted, the latter confessed, before retracting, to have raped and killed Lola before disposing of her body in a suitcase. The investigation is still ongoing.
