A few weeks ago, Yoshimi Yasudaex-CEO of Kadokawa Games and producer of Lollipop Chainsaw, indicated that the action game could return to celebrate its tenth anniversary, but it was still unknown if this was real and how the title would return. This is now confirmed via a publisher’s statement. Dragami Games (relayed by IGN), precisely managed by Yasuda, which announces that Lollipop Chainsaw will be entitled to its own remake.
A complete remake for 2023
Yes, you read that right we are talking here about a real remake according to the words of the publisher, not just a remaster. This new version will be developed by part of the original team, but obviously without Suda51, who works at Grasshopper. Other new talents will join the team, but the whole thing will be supervised by the producer at the time, Yasuda himself.
We are already told that if the game will try to be the most faithful to the basic work, we will still find differences, especially on the aesthetic aspect, with a more realistic rendering according to Yasuda. It will also be necessary to make a cross on some musicsince some of them are under license and therefore difficult to recover.
No platform has been announced yet (although Yasuda has next-gen consoles), but the title already plans to be released in the course of 2023.
What is Lollipop Chainsaw?
For those who missed out when the original game was released, Lollipop Chainsaw is an action game where you play as Juliet Starling, a cheerleader who will find herself confronted with an epidemic of zombies.
To help her survive, she can count on Nick, her boyfriend, who unfortunately only has his head at his disposal. It is therefore between lovers that the two lovebirds will go to decimate the zombie with a chainsaw within the University of San Romero.
The title was released in June 2012 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and did not fully appeal to critics, but it managed to make a name for itself with those who were looking for an uninhibited and delirious action game. His return should therefore make some people happy.
