The first asylum seekers in Britain are to be informed that they will be sent to Rwanda for the duration of their process. The government in London expects lawsuits.
(dpa) The British government will soon inform the first asylum seekers that they will be sent to Rwanda for the duration of their process. “We are confident that the first people will fly in the coming months,” Interior Secretary Kit Malthouse told TalkTV on Tuesday. The notifications would be sent out shortly, but the government expects legal hurdles, Malthouse said. Human rights activists believe that Home Secretary Priti Patel’s plan violates international law and the UN Refugee Convention. A possibly affected man has already filed a lawsuit.
