Long films not your cup of tea? That’s good, the Short Film Festival is launched!

In cinema, there are not only films lasting more than 3 hours by Martin Scorsese and Christopher Nolan… Launched this Wednesday March 20, The Short Film Festival celebrates the diversity of the short format. A real meeting place for all curious spectators!

The Short Film Festival

From March 20 to 26, 2024, short films are in the spotlight during an event entirely dedicated to this cinematographic format which is not always appreciated at its true value. Whether you are already a great admirer of these short films or a simple curious spectator, The Short Film Festival has a very complete and diversified program for you with nearly 150 films to discover for free!

After a previous successful edition with a total of 17,000 screenings in more than 4,300 municipalities in mainland France and overseas, as well as in 66 countries abroad, this celebration of short cinema aspires once again this year to share the magic of this format with the greatest number of people, in particular audiences far from culture.

Open to all, this event is also an opportunity for spectators to participate in activities, meetings, workshops, conferences and masterclasses, which are notably organized in ambassador cities such as Amiens, Caen, Marseille, Metz, Paris and Toulouse. A new city is joining this long list this year: Neuilly-sur-Marne.

A gift for AlloCiné readers

Directed by Zacharie Chasseriaud (Hippocrates), this film tells the story of Jules, a twenty-year-old fairground worker. Punished for having felt three strong emotions, he must choose his constraint: a mime or a fanfare, which will appear with each of his excesses of emotion for a year. He opts for the fanfare. Then begins a real ordeal, oppressed between a family who does not understand him and a budding love for the beautiful Mona. Will he accept his difference?

A wide variety of themes

Supported by the CNC, The Short Film Festival shines the spotlight on films of all kinds aimed at everyone, including young audiences. There we find gems like Fierrot le pou, one of the first projects created by Mathieu Kassovitz before La Haine.

Other actors and actresses well known to spectators are also highlighted in many of these films, such as Catherine Deneuve, Swann Arlaud, Ana Girardot, Bastien Bouillon, Corinne Masiero and Anouk Grinberg…

The different short films offered are divided into 5 main themes:
