Chelsea rewards Tuchel for the CL title
Thanks to coach Thomas Tuchel, Chelsea have made it back to the top. The English soccer club is now rewarding its coach for the title in the Champions League. The 47-year-old signed a new contract early – and received a lot of praise.
The Champions League victory brings Thomas Tuchel the next success: his contract with Chelsea is extended. The coach will sign with the English football club until 2024. Originally, his contract was valid for 18 months, the club has now announced. “As agreed,” said the association, the contract had been extended prematurely by two years.
“I can’t think of a better reason to extend my contract,” said Tuchel. “I am grateful for the experience and very happy to be part of the Chelsea family. There is still a long way to go and we look forward to our next steps with great ambition and anticipation.”
After the final against City, Tuchel had already indicated that his contract, which initially ran until 2022, could be extended. “When Thomas joined us in January there was still so much to achieve in the league and in Europe,” said Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia. “He fitted in seamlessly and immediately became an integral part of the Chelsea family. “
Tuchel took over the coaching position at Chelsea from Frank Lampard at the end of January. At that time, the club was ninth in the Premier League. Within just four months, it led him to fourth place, in the final of the FA Cup – and to the Champions League title.
