When it comes to looking younger, celebrity makeup artists know how to do it. Gala reveals five tricks that you shouldn’t forget from now on.
Skincare is key
Regardless of whether you are 25 or 55 years old – the right care is and will remain the key to beautiful skin. Serums and face creams form the perfect basis for this. The highly concentrated ingredients of both care products complement each other perfectly and support a beautiful complexion. It is important in the care routine that serums should always be used before a cream, as they consist of very small molecules and can penetrate deeper into the skin. When applying, professionals use a very special trick and pound the serum into the skin. To do this, put a drop each on the chin, cheeks, nose and forehead and gently pat into the skin with your fingertips. Before the next care step, you should wait at least ten minutes so that the serum has enough time to be absorbed.
For those who need a last-minute trick before a big event, make-up artist Mai Quynh has a very special tip: In an interview with “Whowhatwear”, she reveals that she always advises her clients to put on sheet masks, to lock the moisture into the skin. If you have puffy circles around the eyes, putting the eye care in the refrigerator before using it may help.
Face lift
The older you get, the more the corners of your eyes fall away. In order to still look glamorous, fresh and awake on the red carpet, many celebrity make-up artists rely on a face-lift – with concealer. To do this, apply the concealer once in the inner corner of the eye and also draw a narrow line with the concealer from the outer corner up towards the temples. The resulting highlight makes the eye look lifted and makes the gaze appear more alert. It really works!
Foundation mixer
Even light foundations can settle in small wrinkles. To prevent this from happening in the first place, some professionals rely on Foundatin mixtures. Star make-up artist Sébastien Tardif, for example, mixes an oil-free, light foundation with a moisturizing and pore-refining primer and a drop of highlighter, as he reveals to “SheFinds”. This makes the skin look even, radiant and balanced.
Powder is the enemy
If you want to look younger, powder is the enemy. At least if you put a lot of it on. Therefore, if you want to use powder, only use it in the T-zone so that the rest of the face still looks fresh and radiant. This is how make-up artist Sofia Tilbury does it, who does make-up on celebrities like Candice Swanepoel, Shanina Shaik and Sienna Miller.
Liptints
The lips also lose fullness and moisture in the course of life. That is why it can be advisable not to use opaque lipsticks, but rather liptints. The liquid tints give the lips minimal color and dry out firmly, but not out. You can give your lips a little more fullness at the end with a gloss. That looks natural and anything but dry. The more neutral the tones, the more natural the result looks. At least that’s what celebrity make-up artist Jillian Dempsey advises.
