(Boursier.com) — The group L’Oreal inaugurated this Friday the installation of photovoltaic panels and a solar farm in its Caudry factory, in the North of France.

The L’Oréal factory in Caudry, which brings together more than 500 employees, specializes in the manufacture of skincare emulsions and foundations for the group’s Luxury Division. It mainly produces for the brands Lancôme, Biotherm, Yves Saint Laurent Beauté, Helena Rubinstein, Valentino, Giorgio Armani, and Prada.

This new photovoltaic installation, carried out in collaboration with Réservoir Sun – a subsidiary of GreenYellow and leader in solar self-consumption in France – consists of a 1 MWp installation in a car park shade and a 250 kWp solar farm on the ground. This is equivalent to a total of 3,166 solar panels with a power of 1,250 kWp.

This installation will cover approximately 10% of the site’s annual consumption needs and will produce 1,230 MWh of low-carbon electricity each year, which will be entirely consumed by the factory. Since 2021, the Caudry factory has used exclusively renewable energy for its industrial uses. Other ambitious actions for sustainable industrial transformation have already been implemented in this factory, such as a water treatment plant.
