Loretta Rogers (1939 – 2022)


TORONTO, June 11, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — It is with profound sadness that Rogers Communications Inc. (“Rogers”) announces today that Loretta Rogers passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family. She was 83 years old.

Beloved wife of the late Ted Rogers, mother and grandmother, Loretta led a full and vibrant life and was dedicated to her family, loved ones, community and business.

Loretta believed passionately in Ted’s vision for the company, and over 45 years of happy marriage, Loretta and Ted supported each other in building Rogers into the company it is today. Following Ted’s passing, Loretta has been dedicated to carrying on Ted’s vision and making Rogers the best company it can be.

Ms. Rogers has served as a director of Rogers Communications since 1964 and was a member of the Advisory Board of the Rogers Control Trust.

She believed strongly in the mission of building a better future for all Canadians, and invested her financial support and her time in it. In 2014, Loretta made an unprecedented donation to establish the Ted Rogers Center for Heart Research aimed at improving the future of heart health in addition to founding the Loretta A. Roger Chair in Eating Disorders Research at Toronto Western Hospital and the Ted Rogers Family Research Chair in Cardiac Functions at the Peter Munk Heart Center.

Ms. Rogers has served on the board of directors of the University Health Network Foundation since 2004, was a member of the Bishop Strachan School Foundation from 1980 to 2009, was president and administrator of the Lyford Cay Canadian Foundation since 1980, served on the board of the Robert Bateman Foundation since 2012 and founded and administered Sheena’s Place.
